In collaboration with Ground Education, Newcomb Academy is excited to announce our new community garden.
"At Ground Education, we are rooted in the belief that nature spaces are teaching spaces where we can learn to mutually thrive on the Earth we all share. We acknowledge that systemic patterns of racism, discrimination and environmental injustice negatively impact access to land, nature and educational opportunities as well as the overall health and well-being of Black, Indigenous, People of Color and lower-income communities. We drive local change to redress these systemic problems by building welcoming gardens in Long Beach elementary schools where we facilitate robust year-round lessons for every child. We are committed to creating natural learning environments where all students have a deep sense of belonging and know that they are seen, heard, supported and valued. We strive to level some of the historical inequities around nature and education with inclusive spaces that meet every student’s needs in the moment." Click below to learn more.
